GMC is known for some of the best pickup trucks in the industry with power & speed to tow almost anything. Now, new driving features make long hauls easier.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Since 2017, GMC has incorporated Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) into models like the GMC Acadia and GMC Yukon, marking a significant advancement in driving technology. Over the years, ACC has evolved with numerous features and is now slated to become a standard offering on twice as many trims of the 2025 GMC Sierra compared to its 2024 counterparts.

But what exactly is Adaptive Cruise Control? Unlike conventional cruise control systems where the driver sets a fixed speed and the vehicle maintains it until manually adjusted, ACC operates differently. It automatically adjusts the cruising speed based on a gap selected by the driver. This means that if the vehicle detects another car ahead, it will adjust its speed accordingly, maintaining a safe distance as determined by the driver’s chosen gap setting. When there are no vehicles ahead, your GMC vehicle will resume cruising at the previously set speed. This feature proves invaluable during long drives, alleviating stress associated with merging, speeding, and sudden changes in traffic flow.

Drive Modes – A Standard 2024 Driving Feature

Many GMC models are equipped with a variety of driving modes – preset commands to conquer any terrain and to help your vehicle tow any load. Driver Mode Control/Traction Select System is a driving feature that allows you to choose your desired mode in response to changing road conditions, even while in motion.

Different models have different drive modes. For example, the 2024 GMC Canyon offers Normal Mode, Off-Road Mode, Terrain Mode, Tow/Haul Mode, and Baja Mode. Other modes offered through the GMC line include Sport Mode, AWD Mode, Snow/Ice Mode, My Mode, Z Mode/V Mode, Track Mode, and Weather Mode. Each of these modes helps optimize your drive through long hauls, inclement weather, on a closed track, or off-road terrain. With these functions, you can go wherever the road takes you safely and efficiently.
